Kevin Nicholson is a Councillor, representing Eastbourne on the Darlington Borough Council.
Kevin serves on the following Council Committees, Efficiency and Resources Scrutiny Committee and the Members Standards Hearing Committee
Kevin has been a trustee of Firthmoor & District Community Association since 2008, which is a local charity responsible for the running and general operations of Firthmoor Community Centre. Kevin was elected Chairman at the charity's Annual General Meeting in July 2008, becoming Darlington's youngest community leader.
Kevin has supported several local projects, such as the community café refurbishment, the set up of a regular NHS blood donation service, community fun days and the set up of a new NHS dental surgery based at the Firthmoor Community Centre.
Kevin has lived on the Firthmoor estate all his life and as a child, attended Dodmire Junior School and for secondary school attended Eastbourne Comprehensive. Kevin studied A Level Law, English and Politics at Darlington's Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College.
In 2014, Kevin became one of the youngest people in the country to be awarded a British Empire Medal [BEM] in the Queen's New Years Honours List, Kevin received the British Empire Medal for services to the community, in particular for voluntary work helping to revamp and modernise the Firthmoor Community Centre, in Darlington.
Back in 2005, Kevin served as the Member of Youth Parliament representing young people in Darlington, Kevin worked closely with other north east members of the UK Youth Parliament, sharing ideas that were aimed at improving services for local young people.
In 2006 Kevin was awarded Darlington's first Young Citizen of the Year Award for outstanding services to the community.
In the 2015 General and Local Government elections, Kevin stood again as a candidate for one of the three Eastbourne council ward seats, Kevin received 1,142 votes, taking a 45% share of vote, the largest share of the vote in that ward.
